Hello, mama!

Carrying your little one is one of the sweetest parts of these early years – and one of the most tiring. Your hip seat is here to share the load: baby sits on a soft, stable seat at your hip, so your arms, wrists and back get a well-deserved break. Take five minutes to read this before your first carry – and share it with anyone else who will be carrying your baby.

1. Is my baby ready?

  • Your baby can hold their head up steadily on their own, without wobbling.
  • Your baby is within the weight limit printed on the label (up to about 9 kg / 20 lb).
  • Your baby is calm, fed and comfortable – first tries go best when everyone is relaxed.
  • You feel well and steady on your feet.

Not sure yet? Every baby develops at their own pace. If you are unsure whether your baby has enough head and neck control, wait a few weeks and ask your pediatrician at the next check-up.

2. Putting on your hip seat

  1. Check first. Look over the buckle, waistband and stitching before every use. Do not use the hip seat if anything is damaged.
  2. Waistband. Place the band around your waist, just above your hip bones, and close the buckle. It should feel snug but comfortable and should not slide down when you move.
  3. Seat position. Turn the band so the seat sits at your side, on the hip you want to carry on.
  4. Shoulder strap. Clip the padded strap on and wear it across your opposite shoulder. Adjust it so it supports the seat without pulling.
  5. Final check. Walk a few steps without baby. Everything should feel secure and close to your body.

3. Sitting baby comfortably

  • Hold your baby securely with both hands while you lower them onto the seat.
  • Baby sits facing you or turned slightly to the side, with one leg on each side of your hip.
  • Bottom deep in the seat, knees a little higher than the bottom, legs relaxed – often called the “M position”.
  • Keep your baby’s face visible and free at all times.
  • Keep one hand on your baby the whole time they are on the seat.
  • Switch hips regularly to keep your posture balanced.

4. Safety golden rules

Always: keep at least one hand on your baby · bend at your knees, not your waist · check buckles and straps before each use · take breaks and listen to your body and your baby.

Never: run, jog, exercise or do sports while carrying · cook or handle hot drinks with baby on the seat · use the hip seat while driving, cycling or in a car · leave your baby on the seat unattended · let your baby sleep on the hip seat – lay them down on a safe, flat sleep surface.

5. Everyday tips & care

  • Start small: 10–15 minutes at a time while you both get used to it.
  • Great for grocery runs, walks, school pickups and soothing a fussy baby.
  • Use the side pocket for your phone, keys or a pacifier.
  • Dad and grandparents can use it too – just adjust the band for each wearer.
  • Care: follow the care label, spot-clean gently and let it air dry completely.
